Who's using high output T5 bulbs and how do you like them? I'm thinking about adding some t5 strip grow lights to my viv for increased plant growth/better klemmeri colors and I'd like some feedback from those who have used them.

We're in kind of a unique position with phelsuma since there's such a big discrepancy between the appearance of wild and captive specemens. People seem to take this as a given and continue on using t8 strips and puck lights, but I feel like there's a ton of room for improvement.

Anyone got input or pics of their animals under t5's, or metal halides or any other high end lighting for that matter?

I have a T5 on my vanda orchid, as well as a mercury vapor bulb. Sooner or later, I will have a panther chameleon in there. If I were to do it over again, I'd get a metal halide light and fixture instead. Still, T5 high output is awesome.

In Europe, T5 HO are standard for general lighting of tanks with diurnal animals. Of course, they do not provide bona fide basking spots.
For basking spots, metal halides are a meaningful add on and most widely used here.
So, in most enclosure featuring diurnal herps, you do find a combination of T5 and metal halides if you visit European herpers.
I do use lots of T5 HO and I am quite happy with these. The Narva Bio Vital IMHO is about the best T5 HO product for most herp applications available today.

I use Hagens GLO T5 HO fixtures as a daylight along with a basking lamp. Great looking lights, grow plants very well, make my geckos look reallllll sexy, and arnt too expensive. Hopefully they come out with a UVB t5 bulb that fits them. Right now this brand is mostly used on aquariums.
