I used a 6 quart sterilite container, from target, no lid on it. put in an inch of cheap organic oatmeal from the grocery store. I ran it in the blender for a minute so it was finely ground, like dust (makes sifting through to find the baby worms easier) I put a 4 inch long by 2 inch wide piece of egg carton, for the worms to crawl on and hide in(this also makes finding the baby worms easier to find, rather than having to sift the whole container every time you want to feed your baby geckos) . I bought a bag of "baby carrots", they are already peeled and only about as thick as a finger and 2-3 inches long. I used the carrots as the mealworms/beetles source of water, and changed the carrot every 3 days. It took about a month or 2 after the original meal worms had turned to beetles, until I saw the first itty bitty meal worms crawling on the carrots. My biggest problem was the oat meal growing mold in the spot where I would put the carrot. Im still looking for a good way to give the worms some moisture with out the moisture coming in contact with the oatmeal.

Maybe take a small small dish, bury it in the oats so it is flush level, then add the carrots on the dish. Still level enough for the worms to get onto, but not touching the oats. Or possibly out the carrots on the egg carton.
