Cancer on gecko tail?!?

My 8 year old female has some sort of growing sore on her tail. She has stopped being interested in food for a little over a week now and I have been force feeding her baby food with calcium. The growth was small then fell off then seemed to grow. I took her to the vet and they deemed her palliative and could go at any time. They said it was likely a form of cancer and nothing to be done. It’s not that I don’t trust them… I just can’t find anything even close to looking alike hers and wondering if anyone has any experience atall with this or has seen something similar. She has all the right environment and was really happy up until this point and still seems to have fight in her. I don’t want her to suffer but I’m just not ready to let go of my baby …

Please be kind. I’ll attach images.
Thank you in advance.

Does the vet feel they can amputate the tail? Geckos drop their tails anyway without much consequence. Of course, the cancer could be other places as well . . .

The vet said amputation wouldn’t work due to the area of it I guess… they use a laser to do so and it wouldn’t work?? I’ll have to follow up as well as I was pretty upset at the time. Just trying to see if anyone has experienced anything similar.
